This was our All hands call, the last one from Christmas and one of the participant’ was wearing an ugly Christmas sweater. While waiting to get started, a few of us were appreciating the gesture as it conveyed fun, its ok to laugh at yourself, take it easy. At that moment, one of the participant’s said that wearing an ugly sweater can only be done by an ‘apprentice’. Not sure how those words came across for many, but for me they made me think what do I want to be.
Do I want to be an apprentice, a person who is always learning, a person who is curious, a person who is down to earth, a person who finds it fun to laugh at oneself
Or
Do I not want to be an apprentice, i.e. a person who knows all the answers, who takes self seriously, who finds it difficult to laugh at self.
An apprentice forever!
